Windows ME - Connecting

To configure your Windows ME PC for alpha dot net access, complete the following instructions.

Double-click My Computer then Control Panel.

Double-click on the Dial-Up Networking icon and then Make New Connection.

This will open the Dial-up Networking Wizard. Configure as follows.

Type a name for the computer you are dialing: alpha dot net
Select a device: Select your modem from the drop-down menu
Note: Standard 56000 bps V90 Modem is the default setting.

Click Next.

Area Code: 02
Telephone number: 82189000

Click Next then Finish.

In the Dial-Up Networking window, click on the alpha dot net connection with your right mouse button and select Properties with your left mouse button.

Configure as follows.

Use area code and Dialling Properties: Unchecked

If you are on a LAN (Local Area Network), you should consult with your Network Administrator before going any further, as changing the numbers in this section could result in the loss of your LAN connectivity.

Click the Networking tab.

Type of Dial-Up Server: PPP: Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME

Allow network protocols: TCP/IP
Note: All the other boxes must be unticked.

Click TCP/IP Settings...

Server Assigned IP Address: Checked
Primary DNS: 203.41.44.20
Secondary DNS: 203.41.220.30
Use IP header compression: Checked
Use default gateway on remore network: Checked

Click OK and then the Security Tab.

User name: yourusername
Password: yourpassword
Connect automatically: Checked

Click the Dialling tab.

This is the default Intenet connection: Checked
Always dial my default connection: Checked
Note: alpha dot net will always be used as your Internet connection.
You can also enable Dial-up Networking to disconnect if idle for a specified time.

Your Windows ME setup is now complete.

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
