Outlook 4 - Newsgroup Setup

To configure Outlook 4 for alpha dot net newsgroup access, complete the following instructions.

Important: Be sure you have already configured your Windows Operation System to connect to alpha. For instructions see the main PC Setup page – Connect To Us.

Click Tools and select Accounts.

Click Add and select News.

This will open the Internet Connection Wizard. Confirgue as follows.

Display name: Your Name

Click Next.

E-mail address: yourusername@alpha.net.au

Click Next.

News (NNTP) server: news.alpha.net.au

Click Next.

Internet news account name: alpha dot net newsgroups
You can name this anything you like but we suggest alpha do net newsgroups for easy refrence later.

Click Next.

Connect using my phone line: Checked
Use the following Dial-up Networking connection: alpha dot net

Click Next.

Click Finish.

Click Close to return to Outlook 4.

Your Outlook 4 news account setup is now complete.

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
