Outlook 4 - Email Setup

To configure Outlook 4 for alpha dot net email access, complete the following instructions.

Important: Be sure you have already configured your Windows Operation System to connect to alpha. For instructions see the main PC Setup page – Connect To Us.

Click on Tools and select Accounts.

Click on Add and select Mail.

This will open the Internet Connection Wizard to set up your new email account with alpha dot net.

Display Name: Your Full Name

Click Next.

E-mail address: yourusername@alpha.net.au

Click Next.

My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.alpha.net.au
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.alpha.net.au

Click Next.

POP account name: yourusername
Password: yourpassword

Click Next.

Internet mail account name: alpha dot net
You can name this anything you like but we suggest alpha dot net for easy reference later.

Click Next.

Connect using my phone line: Checked
This is the rquired setting for modem users (most home users). If you connecting via a local network consult your network administrator.

Click Next.

Use an existing dialup connection: alpha dot net

Click Next.

That completes the mail setup for Outlook 4.
Click Finish.

Click Close.

Your Outlook 4 email setup is now complete.

You can test your new email setup by clicking on Send and Receive.

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
