OSX Mail - Email Setup

To configure OSX Mail for alpha dot net email access, complete the following instructions.

Important: Be sure you have already configured your Mac to connect to alpha. For instructions see the main Mac Setup page – Connect To Us.

Launch OSX Mail by double-clicking it's icon in the Dock (usually at he bottom of your screen).

If this is the first time you've opened Mail it should open the Mail Setup screen automatically. If not, it's also accessible via the menu at the top of your screen, Mail – Preferences.

Note: If you'd like to edit an existing account or add your alpha email account select Mail – Preferences and in the Mail Preferences window, select the account you'd like to edit and click Edit or to add an account click Create Account.

In the Mail Setup screen, enter the following:

Email Address: yourusername@alpha.net.au
Incoming Mail Server: mail.alpha.net.au
Mail Server Type: POP
User Account ID: yourusername
Password: yourpassword
Outgoing (SMTP) Mail Server: mail.alpha.net.au

Click OK.

OSX Mail will now automatically connect and download any email.

Setting up your OSX Mail email is now complete.

Click Get Mail to retrieve your email. Click Compose to send an email.

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
