Netscape 4.7 - Email Setup

To configure Netscape 4.7 for alpha dot net email access, complete the following instructions.

Important: Be sure you have already configured your Mac to connect to alpha. For instructions see the main Mac Setup page – Connect To Us.

Launch Netscape 4.7 by double-clicking it's icon.

From the menu at the top of your screen select Edit – Preferences

From Mail & Newsgroups select Identity.

Within Identity, enter the following:

Your name: Your name
Email address: yourusername@alpha.net.au
Reply-to address: yourusername@alpha.net.au
Organisation: Your company name (optional)

Click OK.

From Mail & Newsgroups select Mail Servers.

Within Mail Server, click Add:

Within Mail Server Info enter the following:

Server Name: mail.alpha.net.au
Server Type: POP
User Name: yourusername
Remember password: Checked

Click OK.

Within Mail Server enter the following:

Outgoing Mail Server
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.alpha.net.au
Outgoing mail server user name: yourusername

Click OK.

From the menu at the top of your screen select Communicator – Messenger

Click Get Msg and you'll be asked for your password.

Enter your password and click OK. (You'll only be asked for your password the first time you access this email account).

Netscape 4.7 should now retrieve your email.

Setting up your Netscape 4.7 email is now complete.

Click Get Msg to retrieve email and New Msg to send an email.

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
