MacOS 7.6 - 9.2 - ConnectingTo configure MacOS 7.6 through 9.2 for alpha dot net access, complete the following instructions. There are three Control Panels we'll be using, all accessable via your Apple menu (top left of your screen) – Control Panels. No need to open them yet, we'll go through their configuration one at a time in a moment. However, check that you have them on your system. If they aren't available you'll have to install them from your System CD (Custom Install):
STEP 1
Connect via: Internal Modem However, if you have an external modem – the modem is a seperate box you need to plug into the back of your Mac: Sound: On Dialing: Tone You can now close the Modem Control Panel. If you're asked if you'd like to save changes to the configuration click Save. STEP 2
Connect via: PPP You can now close the TCP/IP Control Panel. If you're asked if you'd like to save changes to the configuration click Save. STEP 3
Connection: Registered User Click Options and then Protocol and enter the following:
Use Protocol: PPP Click OK. You can now close the Remote Access / PPP Control Panel. If you're asked if you'd like to save changes to the configuration click Save. Setting up your MacOS internet connection is now complete. Launching any program that requires an Internet connection will now use the configuration you've just created. See below for details on configuring your Internet software (for example your Web browser).
