MacOS9 - Internet Setup Assistant

To configure your Mac — with OS9 — for alpha dot net access, complete the following instructions.

First we need to locate the Internet Setup Assistant.

Double-click your harddrive icon to open it, then Internet – Internet Setup Assistant, double-click to launch it.

Note: Can't find it? In the Finder (click on the desktop) press Command (Apple key) and F at the same time. This will launch the Mac search program. Type Internet Setup Assistant and press Return. If the Internet Setup Assistant is not available see the MacOS 7.6 – 9.2 Manual Setup instructions.

The following screen will open.

You can name the account anything you like but we suggest alpha dot net for easy reference later.

These setup instructions are for users connecting via modem. If connecting via your office network contact your Network Administrator for details.

Port: Internal Modem
Most modern Macs come with an internal modem – it's built into the computer.

However, if you have an external modem – the modem is a seperate box you need to plug into the back of your Mac:
You can plug your modem into either the Printer port or the Modem port. Check where the modem is plugged into the back of your Mac – if the port it's plugged into has a printer icon select Printer Port for Connect Via, if the port has a modem icon select Modem Port.
Then, select your modem model from the Modem drop-down list (the manufacturer and model number should be on the modem).

USERNAMES & PASSWORDS
Usernames and passwords are case sensitive (MYusername is different to myusername, myPassword is different to mypassword) and should contain no spaces. Be sure your "CapsLock" is not on when typing them. These not only identify you to us as clients, but they are vital to your security for email and connectivity. Always keep your password stored in a secure place.
